Excerpt From Arch of the Pixies
Victoria had that uneasy feeling
someone was watching her again. She thought to herself, “Why didn’t I go with
Mom and Dad?” Victoria
couldn’t see a thing out the windows into the fog and darkness. She wondered if
all the doors were locked. Victoria
continued to place dishes in the dishwasher nervously. She casually walked over
to the trash can beside the back door and placed some garbage in it. Victoria moved quickly and
locked the door. She thought to herself, “One lock down – one to go.”
Her eyes noticed something moving on the back porch. Victoria looked more careful out the window.
She couldn’t see anything in the fog and darkness. Victoria ran through the house to lock the
front door. She stopped in the hallway. Victoria’s
heart pounded as she stood frozen.
The lights to the living room were off and the front door was open. The
fog was creeping across the floor toward Victoria.
The light switch was several feet away. She moved slowly toward it. Victoria reached her
hand toward the switch on the wall.
The front door slammed shut in a loud crash. Victoria’s heart jumped. Something grabbed
her wrist near the light switch. Victoria’s
scream was muffled as something was placed over her mouth.
