Newsletter Information
I hope each of you have enjoyed my new updated free newsletter. The transition from the old format to the new went very well.
My free newsletter continues to be read by thousands of people both in America and in the United Kingdom.
My hope is that each of you will use the 'forward' link of the newsletter to share with your families, colleagues, and community. Please remind them that the 'forward' does not subscribe the person - they must do that on their own.
Just a reminder that each of you are encouraged to update your subscriptions to the free  newsletter if you have not already done so.

Communicating With Our Youth
I am often asked by people, "How do I build trust in my son, daughter, grandchildren, students, etc.?" The first step is set aside time every day devoted to listening intently and sincerely to the child or teen. All people of all ages need to be heard and understood. It is our responsibility to find the time to hear these people in our lives and to protect these precious moments.
I strongly recommend families set aside at least 15 minutes a day per child where the adult listener is being attentive to what the child is saying and follow the session with a demonstration of  their understanding of what has been said.
These moments are extremely critical in the lives of our youth in not only developing trust, but an understanding of what is happening in their lives.

Southwest Presentations
J Richard Knapp recently completed a mini-tour of the Phoenix, Arizona area this fall. The noted author of Bobby's Story spoke with students, staff, and families in local area schools.
Knapp targeted two major topics. First, he developed bully awareness in the participants which included a review of recent data and statistics, profiles of the bully and victim, and strategies for avoiding the bully.
Second, the author worked with the skills of the staff in relation- ship to developing a healthy organization built on the principles of 'Dignity, Respect, and Understanding' with the strategies of equilibrium.
The author is now developing a winter and spring schedule for presentations. All persons interested in a visit by the author are encouraged to contact J Richard Knapp as soon as possible at 'Contact Author' link on the website.
